Iphone 3GS Unlocked - restore not working

Hi,

I got AT & T to unlock my old 3gs iphone, followed the step for back and recovery, but facing issues, after the recovery it asked language and then option to select itunes or wifi, clicking on itunes it askes for SIM Card, even though a SIM card is put in the iphone it does not recognize it. the iphone is in India and the current location it does not have access to wifi .

so stuck can anyone help me.

You need an official sim (AT&T) to activate or jailbreak with Redsn0w to hactivate.
