Hi I recently dropped my iPhone 3gs into my lake and it wasn't working at all and I took it to the apple store and told the genius bar people what had happened. They said the phone isn't covered so it'll cost me 199 for a brand new one with warranty.... And that's what happened I got a brand new iphone3gs for 199 and I was wondering why did they swap it out for a water damaged phone for 199 and I hav my warranty back now.. Is that how they do it or did I get lucky with them

Quite a few threads about this, I found this through search which hopefully you'd use the next time. Thanks!

The only thing is that my isn't a refurbunished iPhone 3gs Thad what the genius bar guy told me and if it was a refurb phon I wouldve only had a limited warranty

Probably because the 3GS was only released for less than a month, not a lot of refurbished phones yet.
