iPhone 3GS will not boot

My iPhone is stuck on the boot screen. After about 5 minuter, a pinwheel appears below the apple. A few minutes later, the phone restarts and the apple appears again. I plugged it in to my computer and it is recognized. I am even able to view the camera roll on my computer. iPhone 3GS jailbroken fw 3.12. What do I need to do? If I have to restore the phone, will it still be jailbroken?

You have a tethered jailbreak. Just start blackra1n again and it'll boot.

Try to restore it in DFU mode then.

that is my last resort aggie. this is a customers phone and has not been backed up. Im trying to get it to start so I can back it up first.
