iPhone 3gs with jailbreak needs to be switched off

Hi Guys i bought a US iphone 3gs here in South Africa. The guy i bought it from said i cant switch phone of otherwise i have to reboot it. But is i reboot it to factory i will not be able to use it here! What do i have to do??? Maybe just point me to a post here on macrumors or a bootup link that works for southern Africa
