On the old iOS 3x or maybe iphone 3G, if i was on a wifi network or vpn, i had the issue where i had to put machinename.domain.local to connect to a machine with say, winadmin or netportal..

Now with iOS 4.0.1 or iphone4.. i get on the network, but have to use ip addresses to resolve servers.. this never used to occur, i know before i had to use the full path because of the apple conflic with the .local domain name and bonjour services..

Has something changed in iOS 4x that prevents even the full name resolution to work?

Anyone ran into this?

Thanks
