This tweet by Musclenerd makes it sound as if the dev-team is preparing a traditional baseband unlock for the iPhone 4.

I say this because Musclenerd is speaking specifically about baseband crashes for the i4. This is not something that was talking about for 05.14.xx or 05.15.xx.

So has there been any further confirmation by the dev-team that a traditional unlock is what they have in store for the iPhone 4 rather than upgrading the baseband to the ipads?

Nothing really new here, They had said before they had several "Crashes" for it, but having a crash is such a small part of the unlocking that this isn't really much. Not all crashes are due to exploitable bugs.
