iPhone 4.2.1 Jailbroken how to update?

Hi All,

I have a 3GS with 4.2.1 that I jailbroke ages back using Jailbreakme.

I want to update to say 5.0.1 or 5.1 (prefer 5.0.1 as its untethered right?)

So how do I update my phone? I have backed up all my photos, have all my music in iTunes and dont really care about the apps.

My quetions are
- Will I still be able to have installous?
- What is the upgrade process from 4.2.1 to 5.x

I tried to do a search but everyone is always talking about iphone 4/4s these days

Edited as im told I havent read the forum rules.. my apologies but from other searching there is plenty of discussion on tethered/untethered jailbreaking in this section so didnt think it was inappropriate.
