Iphone 4 32gb 4.2.1 restore to JB without updating

I have a new Iphone 4 32gb that I want to jb but I do not want it to be tethered.

In the instructions for Greenpoison, it says to first restore. But that will update me to 4.3.

What are the steps I need to follow to get this thing JB'd on 4.2.1?

You can only restore to older firmware with saved shsh blobs. If you don't have them for 4.2.1 then you can only go to the latest firmware that's out.

So, my only option is to restore it which will upgrade and then I will have to have a tethered JB on 4.3?


Should I wait till it's untethered? If so what should I do in the meantime to prepare for that?

If your Iphone has 4.2.1 on it right now. you don't need to do anything or restore it, just run Greenpois0n and you will have an untethered jailbreak.

What firmware are you running now?
Is it still on 4.2.1?

Yes, if you're on 4.2.1 don't restore. Just use GP like the bros said above.
