iPhone 4 3G problems

I have a Verizon iPhone 4 running iOS 6. Recently, I've noticed that whenever I'm listening to a streaming music service like Tune In Radio or Songza over 3G, I cannot access info from other apps online, like Safari, Maps, Weather, etc. I have to shut down my phone and restart and the problem goes away, but when I use streaming music the problem starts all over again. Is this a problem with my phone? Or is this a problem with Verizon?
