iPhone 4, 4.0.1 about to JB questions

I have an iPhone 4 on 4.0.1, never jailbroken. I am wondering if it is possible to JB it to 4.3.3, do I need SHSH to get it there (which I don't have)? If I don't do 4.3.3, can I JB it to 5.0.0 or 5.0.1? I don't mind the tethering but I would like to get it unlocked someday. Will my baseband be updated with the Mac JB?

You can only go to 5.0.1 since you don't have SHSH blobs save. Use sn0wbreeze to cook a 5.0.1 custom firmware while preserving your 01.59 baseband and restore your phone to it.
