My friend's iPhone 4 is on software 4.1 baseband 02.10.04. He wants it jailbreaking and then unlocking so I need to restore to software 4.2.1 baseband 1.59.00. I'm trying this guide:

http://www.redmondpie.com/jailbreak...th-greenpois0n-rc5-and-unlock-with-ultrasn0w/

But when the phone restarts, it's still on 4.1 (02.10.04 Baseband) and not 4.2.1 (1.59.00 Baseband). I've tried it twice to make sure I didn't make a mistake the first time round but it still doesn't seem to have changed?

As it says on the page, the guide is for keeping the 1.59.00 baseband, not downgrading to it.

The iPhone4's bootloader is not compatible with downgrading basebands. In other words, you cannot do what you are suggesting.

Sorry

OK, thanks.

Do you have any suggestions on how to perform a jailbreak that will allow me to unlock the phone to all networks, bearing in mind it is currently on 4.1 (02.10.04)?
