iPhone 4 Activation Question

I have two IP4s, one is mine that I upgraded from a 3G. The other is technically my dad's. He was eligible for the upgrade pricing, so we bought it with the intention of unlocking it and selling it. It hasn't been opened yet, it's still sitting in the packaging.

Now, to unlock it, it needs to be activated. Since I have an IP4 already, what would happen if I put my SIM card in the other phone? Would it activate normally? I imagine this would be similar to Apple replacing your phone if it has a defect or something, right? AT&T shouldn't care about the IMEI changing, as long as the hardware is the same, right?
 
Plug it into itunes with the sim thats already inside.
For the initial activation it will ask you for your zip code and last 4 of your social.
Put those in and then you can JB and unlock it and then sell it.
If you send it out like that the buyer wont be able to activate it since its tied into your dads account.
 
Do I put in MY info or my dads? If it's my info, this won't screw up my account? If it's my dad, will doing this add a data line and everything to his plan?

And another member that received an i4 from someone had to use their last 4 of their social and billing zip to activate it initially.

Where did you buy them from? AT&T or Apple?

Both my AT&T iP4s asked for nothing and just brought me to the register device with Apple screen.
