Having read about every issue the phone has had and experiencing none I figured I lucked out. But I am finding that when I use the speakerphone people on the other end can't hear me. My wife on her 3GS doesn't have a problem but most others do. Anyone experiencing the same thing?

Make sure you are talking into the top (not bottom) mic and it's not covered.

how so? isnt the top mic for noise cancellation only?

I don't think the top mic does speaker phone. It isn't a high quality one and speaker phone should work with the OP talking to the wall with the iPhone placed on a table.

Yeah but I can hold it right to my face and nothing. Guess Im going to Apple.

Just check around, the bottom mic is for phone calls and the top is for facetime and noise suppression. So just talking into the bottom of the phone is the correct way

I have the same problem that the speakerphone won't work. In Skype, however, it is working.

I am. If I switch from speakerphone while on the call, then the person can hear me fine. Dissappointing to say the least.
