Before I waste a trip across town, I wanted to post up on here and get some insight on whether going in to the Apple store to see about a replacement or any free repair solution is a recommended idea or not.
Damage to my device includes shattered front and back glass, missing home button, and damaged battery connection.
I had seen a post about a situation similar to mine on here from a while back where he went in and received a free replacement, even with his device being jailbroken.

The front and back glass is broken and you're missing a home button and you think you're going to get a free replacement?

Not going to happen. And, generally, they especially wouldn't do it if you're jailbroken.

my thoughts as well...
I had planned on repairing everything myself but came across a post by a user on here who had the same issues and had received a replacement. Though I call ********...
Also, his was jailbroken, not mine.

You can get an out of warranty replacement for $149.00. Not sure what it would cost you to buy the parts and fix it.

Depending on which site I go through, the parts needed for repair will run me about $45 to $100. If it comes down to that I will most likely just wait, depending on incoming funds, and order the out of warranty replacement.

Same in UK had a similar thing with an iPhone 4 and apple just replaced it out of warranty at a cost of £129.

No need to order one. Just make an appointment at your local Apple store and you should be able to get one on the spot.

Oh sure, since yours is not jailbroken then you will definitely get a free replacement.
You just have a shattered front and back glass, missing home button, and damaged battery connection.:D

They will replace it for the $149 fee.
Up to you if you want to go for it.
