Hi guys .. i recently bought a cheap case from eBay just a see through one to protect my phone from scratches but i forgot to clean it before i actually put it on and when i tried to take it off i couldnt.. i had to use a small knife to open it and i knew i would scratch the bezel ,, and i was right i now have a small visible line on the left corner of my phone which is really bugging me..
ive only had the phone for 2 days and its already messed up ..the cheap case ruined my phone
so now my idea is to purchase a bumper to hide the scratch..
have any of you guys got scratches on their bezel yet?

No scratches, yet. I decided to not use a case though.. I had bought a Bumper at launch, but got tired of taking it off every time I wanted to plug it in to our car adapter. I just keep it in my pocket when I'm not using it (and make sure nothing else goes in that pocket ;)).

Unfortunately you get what you pay for. It sucks because there aren't many good cases out to choose from yet either... :(

First, the case is no the cheap one, you are, You paid at least $199 for a phone and couldn't get a $29 case to protected it??

second, The case did not scratched your phone, you did, why would you use such hard object??? if your windows get dirty are you going to clean them with a hammer???

go to the store and get a good case that cover as much as possible of the phone, you are going to need it looking at the way you thread your phone.

Please explain to me how the "cheap case" ruined your phone? ;)

i think i will just stick with a bumper to hide it.. its nothing major but really sucks..
thanks god its insured if something major happens in future..

no scratches yet but i dont think the case scratched your phone, it was the knife you used.

This is exactly my approach. I also am OCD enough to make sure there is absolutely no lint or any sand (I'm on the golf course a lot) in the pocket either!

Everyone knows you clean dirty windows with sandpaper .

i know i know its my fault for going for a cheap case!

If you don't use a bumper you will get many more scratches and will never see the first one! That is only your first scratch if you don't cover it up.

You expected it to remain scratch free without any protection?? Take a close look at the stainless steel band on any watch that has been used for a while. It is loaded with scratches and you pretty much can't see them unless you inspect closely.

I use a bumper. It protects and provides a much better grip.

Funny story.

I decided to see if the bottom screws were on tight. Got a screwdriver and applied it to the screw.

Yep it was tight alright, so tight that the screw driver slipped:eek:

I was like

And then I was like  at myself.

Checked the phone for any scratches and there were none.

So I was like

Moral of the story? Never apply a sharp object to your beautiful, beautiful
iPhone:apple:

Or you will end up :(

Thanks!!!!

What a nice tale. Hahaha. :)

Yet, you did it anyway.. lol. Now that you have you're first scratch, you'll be less worried about the phone. I know I was when I dropped my 3G in a parking lot the first day I got it..

thats exactly how i feel now. lol

it's the not the case, it's you.

it wasn't the case that ruined your phone. who's the idiot that used a knife to take off the case? you.

think about it for a second. plastic vs steel? steel is harder than plastic.

how about this: metal knife vs steel bezel? metal on metal means there's a chance of the phone getting scratches.

basic chemistry...

Thank god you were here to solve this mystery a year and a half later.
