I just got my iphone 4 today, i waited in line...

took it home jailbroke it, added some ringtones. Thats it.

THEN- i went to settings>reset> erase iphone
its started to turn off then back on
HERES where it gets bad!
the apple come up then weird lines come up at the top
the apple goes away to a black screen.

THATS IT! it never does anything else!

HELP HELP HELP ! D:

I tried to put it in DFU mood by holding home and sleep wake... does the same thing and DOESNT go into DFU!!

what can i doo?! if i take it into the apple store will the replace it , or will they find out i jailbroke it ?

please. im scared. :(

The lines at the top of the apple logo happen for everyone.

It's your fault. Learn your lesson, and go buy another one for $800.

Hold the Sleep and Home buttons for about 20 seconds unplugged. Give it about 5 minutes after you see the Apple logo with the lines. Then plug it into the wall charger and do the same thing.

Btw, the lines are normal to see(they let you know your phone is JB), no worries there.

You are not putting it in DFU mode properly if it reboots. Just download Recboot, put it in recovery mode, connect it to iTunes and restore it. Done, btw you can't brick your phone. I've jailbroken every iDevice (literally) and you can't brick it.

THANKS SO MUCH YOU GUYS!

i feel really stupid... but i got it into DFU now i cant restore...
I dont have the lates version of itunes, but i am running into so many problems downloading it.

I get this message " Errors occurred while installing the updates. IF the problem persists, choose tools>download only and try installing manually. "

does anyone know what to do ?

You DID NOT brick your phone, and misleading titles like this just perpetuates the myth that jailbreaking is dangerous.

Please stop using the word BRICKED like the whole software infrastructure is gone or corrupted. If you can't restore from your computer, find another computer to update from that has the latest itunes then try again. I have not seen one single phone that has bricked due to a jailbreak.

Heh, how many people do you think will find this thread on Google, see the first reply that basically says you're screwed and you just wasted $800, and decide to close their browser out of fear?

Why he got an iPhone 4 when Samsung Captivate
is out is a mystery to me. If you want freedom don't buy an iPhone and jailbreak it.. Unless you already got an iPhone. Android if you like owning your phone, if you want apple to control it buy iphone

And don't forget your aluminum foil hat to keep the aliens from eating your brain.

It's kinda hard to actually BRICK an iDevice.

If you do lock-up your iDevice and have to Restore and can't, it's usually on the computer side that all screwed up.

same problem

I also have a bricked iphone 4 that was jailbroken. I didn't delete anything and am not retarted because i have jailbroken phones before. My phone ran out of battery and would not turn on so i put it in recovery mode and tried to restore but in preparing for the restore the phone just keeps resetting itself and the restore would fail. I have used this computer to restore phones before so its probably not the computer but i am going to try another one anyway and ill let u know if that works. The reason i think the computer is not the case and that we are probably screwed is the jailbreak for iphone 4 can only be done on a computer and on my friends 3gs everytime he turned his phone off it would brick and the only way to unbrick it was to re-jailbreak on the computer. And considering how easy jailbreakme.com is to use i dont see why a computer version will ever be released. I will post on this thread if I figure out how to fix it and I hope the OP will do the same because we all know you cant take this crap back to corporate crackhole APPLE even though they could prolly fix it in 2 minutes they would just cancel my service and leave me with a jailBROKEN phone. Peace.
