Hi Guys,

I have an iPhone 4 here that my mate gave me to try sort out and i must say, im stumped

symptoms:

1. iPhone does not make charging sound when connected to power or computer
2. iPhone displays apple logo and only apple logo
3. power and home buttons to reset do nothing
4. Power button on it's on does nothing
5. I can see the little error on the screen from the jailbreakme exploit
6. computer or any jailbreaking program will not detect iPhone

basically it's just stuck on the apple logo, i can let it run out fo power at which point it will display the low power or connect to power icon and when i connect it after a few mins the apple logo will appear then the jailbreakme exploit screen error appears and thats it it just stays like that
any ideas?

thanks

thanks but how can i get it into DFU when none of the buttons do anything?

It will eventually. Hook up the iPhone to the computer. Hold the power and home buttons until the iPhone restarts. Once you see the Apple come on hold down the home button (let go of power). Then a USB/iTunes logo will pop up.

iTunes will then say the iPhone is in recovery mode, restore.

What Psst said.

Don't worry, unless it's a hardware problem, you can't brick an iPhone. But if it comes up to the Apple screen, ur good ;)

hi there, thanks but as I said the home and power buttons do nothing, i presume they would have done something after 7 mins holding?

If the home button or power button does not work, take it to Apple. They'll easily give you a replacement. I've had a broken power button before and I just took it to Apple and they replaced it instantly. In and out in 10 minutes.

Download TinyUmbrella and try the button on there for enter recovery. Also make sure it doesnt put any entries in your hosts file (these cause errors when restoring in iTunes)
