iPhone 4 Brightness level

just gotten my iPhone 4 from ATT store and have not played with it lot but one thing i noticed

the screen brightness needs to be like 40% of the setting for me to even see the display.

earlier iPhone 3G i can put it to zero in the brightness setting still visible

is it normal or my screen brightness has some problem?
 
Mine seems a little darker than my 3G. I've got it set to about 40% as well. I can see it at 0 but it's too dark for my comfort.
 
I'm on my second one, no yellow, but from about 3/4 brightness setting upwards, nothing changes. It is definitely dimmer.:mad: Oh well, back to the Apple store I go!
 
It seems a tad bit darker than my 3G when both are set to 50%, but at 100%, the 4 is definitely brighter.
 
Same issue here, what I have noticed is that during low light conditions it is almost as if the dim stays on. Only when I shut off the auto brightness do I get the real light conditions.

I still had my 3G and was comparing them and this is definitely noticed.
 
Anybody experience this problem...?

Lock phone. Press home button (don't unlock)...notice screen brightness.

Now slide to unlock and see if the screen noticeably dims.

Same here.

I just toggled my auto-brightness off, and what it came up to is what it SHOULD be in my current surroundings. With it on, it's way too dim.
 
thanks guys, looks like the brightness is overall low at the iPhone 4.

hope the brightness last for few years...
 
Mine is much brighter than my 3GS. If I turn it all the way up, it's blindingly bright. I'm in a semi-dark room, so that's part of it, but still.

Even at 0 brightness level, I can clearly see the screen.
 
Just turned off auto brightness as well. Much better. I could really care less about auto brightness so I'm leaving it off and turning down my regular brightness.
