Okay, I have an iPhone 4, and my ability to talk on the phone has never been worse. The volume is so low (even at max) and my calls are dropped all the time. Not "dropped" but who ever I'm talking to will suddenly not be able to hear me. I can hear them fine, but they can't here me. I have about 2-3 bars of reception in my house, and for some reason, the only place where this issue doesnt happen is when I stand in front of the second window to the left of my garage door. Every other room, every other place is cursed. I hate that. This is also a problem in public, sometimes I just lose people. Is there a way to fix this? I know the iPhone 4 antenna was bad, but I still have to have this phone for another year, and I am tired of having to run to the garage every time someone calls me.

Note: it is not the SIM card. I already had that replaced to see if it would fix it. Nope.

I have an i4 and never with those problems.. maybe is your carrier? have you tried with other I4 ? cheers

I have an old iPhone 4 and always worked perfect, its your carrier most likely. Did you try another to test ?

Might sound like a silly question, but do you have your phone in a case? Your problem could be related to the antenna breaks in the phone.

For those of you saying that you don't have issues with your iPhone 4, please stop as you're not helping the OP.

It doesn't sound like an issue with the antenna since cell reception doesn't seem to be affected. It's probably either a software or a hardware issue. If a restore (not from backup) doesn't fix the issue, it's probably a hardware issue.

Yeah, I have an otterbox commuter on it. Maybe you're right, I'll try taking it off. It's just so difficult to take off/ put on, I've never tried.

I'll try that, and write back to let everyone know.

Thanks!

Anything is possible, but I was actually hoping that you didn't have a case on your phone and you were possibly bridging the two antennas when you were using it.

If anything, you reception should be "better" with a plastic case on the phone.

I'm going to write a second comment here -- I think the case is probably not an issue... your telephone call has to go through brick walls and miles of space. A piece of plastic won't effect it.

It's probably something with hardware

Yeah, I tried it last night with the case off, and it still didnt fix the issue...
