Right so having pre ordered IPhone 5 I am passing my iPhone 4 on to my wife so on Thursday I updated it to 5.1.1 and restored it to my wife's 3GS back up no problem there, after a while my wife said that the camera shutter was stuck so I reset settings and it opened and camera works again except the front camera you use for face time ect so I did a restore still not working restored back to my last back up still not working? It was working last time I used it but now it's not?
anyway managed to get a genius appointment at 5.30 pm yesterday so I explained to the genius what was wrong and that it was working before I updated the software, so the genius did a full restore problem still there she then decided it was an hardware problem and the camera would need replacing at a cost of £40 I said ok do it 30 mins later she came back and told me the problem was still there so I said its not the camera then? She replied that maybe the software update had knocked the logic board out? And I could replace the Phone for £119 ! Now if I had damaged the phone or dropped it in water no problem in fact that would be a bloody good deal but all did was update the software, I explained this but got the reply that the logic board is hardware I then asked her to clarify that if an iPhone or any device is out of warranty does that mean you update software at your own risk which she replied yes,so when I get my iPhone 5 I can't update software? Oh that will be ok because it will be in warranty! By then I'd had enough I'd been in the store over an hour the store was packed and my wife was waiting by the cinema so I left.
I'm sitting here today thinking I should of kicked off, that can't be right surely?
Not sure wether to leave it or make an appointment next week and go back and speak to someone else,it's not like she can't use the phone as its only the camera not working but surely when your paying £500 for something it should last longer than 2 years providing it hasn't been neglected.
Any advice from the wise heads on here?
