iPhone 4 - "comatose"

Since receiving my phone on Thursday, it has been having this issue. It randomly will not not wake up. It is completely 'comatose' and the only way to get back operating is to conduct a hard restart.
I am not the only person with this issue, as I have been keeping up with the Apple forums (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2476608&start=0&tstart=0)
Why has Apple not addressed this issue? Nor has anyone else apparently. Read the forum noted above, there seems to be many ideas to the cause, but no solutions to this point, short of getting a replacement phone.
Is there anyone on this board experiencing the same issue(s)??

last night i was using maps while heading to a place, i set the phone down in the cup holder, w the maps app up, it went to sleep... went to pick it up, it was like "it had turned itself off"... i hard reset got it back.

i just figured it was a fluke but that thread over at apple is pretty lengthy...
