Each new iPhone generation sported an edgier design, the latest being compared to a solid little brick.

Personally, however, I would like it even more edgy! (As in "squared").

In particular I would love the roundness at the corners to be much less accentuated, so to have a sharp rectangular shape.

I was wondering how many would agree with such design! And how many do think Apple will go this way with the next iteration...

Poll open.

I have to say that i am pretty happy with the current physical design. The only thing i want changed in the next few year is the durability. I would eventually like to go without a case or screen protector without worry of big scratches on the glass and missing paint on the sides.

Uh, I think sharp corners = very bad idea. Anyone who carries their iphone in their pocket will agree I'm sure.

And imagine trying to pick your phone up and getting it from the wrong angle... ow.

It doesn't need to be 90 degrees sharp angles, but I think it could be much less rounded at the corners without any ergonomic issue.

It's uncomfortable to hold as it is. No more sharp edges. Pretty, yes. Practical, now.

It would be nice if there was a corner I could use to cut people with... It would be great for self defense... I could use an led flashlight program to disorient the offender, then go in for a deep cut... Then I could take a photo of the assailant... And then tag them after I upload to Facebook and tweet about my victory...

No way, I already find it uncomfortable to hold and it's the reason I use a case now.

Personally I like the design as it is, the metal band makes it grippy (if that is even a word) to hold.

The only slighty annoying thing, is the heat generated from the phone, rather than the shape of it when holding it to your ear or using it for extended periods.

I want the curved design back. All of my jeans have a faded, worn rectangle from where my iPhone 4 sits...

I'd love the design of the new touch. Flat, but it tapers off to a nice curve. With edges too btw

I think they're going to keep the current design. Apple seems to prefer to stick with designs for more than one generation when it comes to the iPod/iPhone lineup, probably for accessory inter-compatibility.

Why would any sane person want sharp corners?

Must be running out of ideas for thread titles.

It's a matter of design. And since (1) Apple is largely basing its success on design and (2) the smudged look of icon and hardware in time has meant a lot for Apple's image, I don't find that investigating the direction of Apple's design is secondary.

I don't think Apple will ever make a product that's completely with hard corners. It's just not in their design philosophy.

Maybe it's time for a change? The whole rounded white fad is sort of wearing thin.
