So my mom placed her iphone 4 on her macbookpro, and felt a shock, and now it has a blue screen. a dark one. the touch screen doesnt reply, but all sounds and processes run. is it something fried? and what do I do about it?

it backs up, and the nearest apple store is an hour drive, and who knows how useful that will be.

thanks!

That definitely sounds like a power surge has either fried the LCD, connector or logic board.

If it was definitely just placing it on the MacBook that caused it and the MacBook is still in warranty then Apple has an obligation to repair or replace BOTH.

If the MacBook is out of warranty Apple have no obligation to do anything for free, however if it is an issue that Apple are aware of and a product recall should have been put into effect then they are still liable for both devices (unless a product recall went out and your mum didn't know about it or ignored it of course). Saying that Apple may offer help if it is a problem that could be seen to be dangerous due to manufacturing issues, google the iPod Nano product recall that was issued last year.

Otherwise your mum is on her own in that respect because unless they can establish that it is definitely something that went wrong in the phone and the timing of her putting on the MacBook was coincidence they will reject warranty claims as it wasn't the hardware that failed due to poor workmanship

On another note though, have you tried doing a hard reset?

Simply hold down the home button and power button, hopefully the apple logo should appear. If it does then release the buttons and hey presto screen is working again but if not the above will more than likely apply
