I can't turn my phone back on without Redsn0w (tethered boot); I can't restore my phone from my custom ios 5 or 4.3.3 (this device isn't eligible for the requested build) I've checked the hosts, I've tried everything. I need the baseband for the Gevey sim unlock, so I don't want to update it through apple because ill loose the baseband. What can i do guys? Please help. Sorry if this has been posted before I just need help quickly.

Run it through Tiny Umbrella and see if you have SHSH blobs save for this phone? if not, you can only go to 5.0.1 because this is what Apple is currently signing. So, in order for you to preserve the baseband, you will have to use sn0wbreeze to cook a customs 5.0.1 firmware and then restore to it. However, I am not sure if Gevey sim works on 5.0.1 with old baseband. I heard it is not. So, you might want to do a little research on this first before proceeding with it.

according to this link, it works but I have not tried it. So, I don't know.

Without Shsh blobs you can only update to apple signed firmware for the I4 it's 5.0.1 which is also a tethered jb. Hopefully soon there will be a untethered jb.

If you don't have SHSH files for other firmware than unfortunately, you're stuck with iOS 5. The Gevey WILL work if you preserved your baseband but sometimes it takes a little more work to get it up and going the first time around.

OP, you can avoid tether boot every time by installing semi tether package immediately. By doing so, you at least have a usable phone away from your PC. IMO, this is a good option for you at the moment.

Hang in there and wait for untethered jailbreak for OS5. Don't do anything yet, you might mess up your phone if Gevey is not working with 5.0.1 (with old baseband)

thank very much, ill try all these things. Tinyumbrella actually saved two blobs... what can i do now

3717664910700-iphone3,1-5.1b1.shsh thats what it saved. What do I do next?

You cannot restore to 4.3.3 since you have no hashes

Your only option is to use iFaith and grab the hashes for the firmware that is currently on your phone (iOS5 I think from reading all you typed)
Use Sn0wbreeze to restore with a custom IPSW since you mention custom but didn't give any baseband info.

Google for a tutorial on how to use iFaith and Sn0wbreeze
