Literally just bought the phone about two weeks ago, if that. I was at a party last night and went to use the restroom and of course the phone dropped in the toilet for about 3 seconds. (estimated guess) I tried turning it on and it worked. Then I tried one more time to double check and the screen went blank. The phone was at 7% battery so I figured it could have shut off for a combination of those two factors. It was in rice all night and I checked again this morning to power it up and still no response. Should I just leave it in rice for a couple of days.

My MacBook Pro went through very bad water damage and my father left it in a large bin of rice for about 4 to 5 days and it is now working perfectly fine. We tried powering up my laptop many times as well before we went to Apple to see what the issue was.

Is there any positive outlooks that come from this scenario or is it time to buy another new iPhone?

Leave it in an enclosed large container/large baggie filled with rice for another 48 hours, longer if you are able, with the knowledge that the two times that you powered it ON after the dunk may have fried its innards.

Don't try turning it ON again for a few days, when it's out of the rice.
