I ordered my iphone and just got it today. I had to go through all this hassle of going through 4 at&t stores just to activate it. when i finally got home i realized that it shuts off every 5 minutes. i already did a factory restore and it still does it. i set up a genius appointment at the local apple store at the promenade.

do you think i would be able to get an exchange even though they said they were out of stock? do they have an extra stock for defective iphone exchanges?

Extra stock, it will come out of a little black box with the phone only. I've had to take mine back 2x and they had them no prob.

Why did you have to go to 4 AT&T stores just to get it activated? That sucks that it shuts down after 5min. I'm not sure if they will have extra's in stock, but you might get lucky.

the first one activated my phone wrong, the sim wasnt right
the second one told me to go to a corporate att location
the third one activated it but disabled one of my family members
