About half an hour ago it appeared that I had lost all signal from my cellular carrier (vodafone UK). My iPhone then had a notification when I next checked it, which read as follows:
"Restore required. iPhone cannot make or receive calls [iTunes support URL]"
I tried resetting the phone (home button + lock button). When the phone booted back up, it displayed the 'connect to iTunes' symbol and the emergency call slider.
I connected it to iTunes and it wouldn't sync because it was apparently asking for the passcode, which it wasn't. I reset it again and it seemed to start working again.
Now every single third-party app that I try and open immediately crashes and the phone returns to the springboard.
My next step will be to (reluctantly) restore the phone in iTunes, I suppose. I was wondering if anyone has noticed this kind of weird behaviour since the 4.3 iOS update. I've also experienced the auto-rotation not working for a while (with the orientation lock off and toggled a few times to make sure).
I really hope it's not my iPhone in particular messing up. The nearest Apple store is a train journey away from me at the moment.
UPDATE: I just did another sync with iTunes and third-party apps are opening again. Still quite worrying behaviour, though. My friend noticed the auto-rotation failing to work at one point on his iPhone 4 as well. Anyone else experiencing bugs? I've read concerns about the battery life being adversely affected since the update on some people's iPhones (3GS and 4).
