iPhone 4 GPS Chip

First of all I did search but couldn't find the answer

Is the GPS chip in the new iPhone the same as in the iPad?

Now that the iPhone has a worthy camera I want to use it to take snaps and would love for accurate GPS to view the photos on a map in iPhoto but find the chip in the current iPhones to be slightly lacking.

What issues are you having with the old one? I took pictures on my lake while moving on a boat and they are dead on

I find the 3GS GPS chip to be dire in turn-by-turn navigation applications like TomTom: Frequently places me on adjacent roads or completely looses signal while navigating!

Perhaps the new antenna system will improve things
