Everytime I try to restore my iphone on my macbook(whether it was my 3g or my 4) it would always to the progress bar and hang right after it got a little bit pass the apple logo. However I would be able to restore it on my PC just fine. Now I'm trying to downgrade from 4.2.1 to 4.1 using my 4.1 ipsw. I am now getting a new error on my PC (3194). And the progress bar still hangs on my macbook. What do I do to restore now?

Do you have Wi-Fi Sync installed on your MacBook? That is mainly the issue for the hanging restore. Also you need the SHSH saved to downgrade from firmware to firmware. That's why you're getting 3194 shown.
