Hey guys, I'm having an issue with my iPhone where it heats up out of nowhere.

I have a part-time job that requires me to sit down for 4 hours straight. At some point, I feel a warmness in my pocket and I realize that it's my iPhone 4. I have to quickly turn it off so that it doesn't drain itself and I see the battery would go to 50% when it was at 70%+ as I walked in.

Here's what I know:
  • The area I'm in gives me 2 or 3 bars max.
  • I never have Bluetooth turned on.
  • Brightness is at 50%.
  • The phone is locked when it's in my pocket.
  • I can noticeably feel the heat even though it has an Incase Snap on it. So it must be much hotter if the phone was naked.
  • I always close all my apps in the multi-tasking bar.
  • I'm running iOS 5 beta 6

What should I do to prevent this? D:

Its probably partly from the phone searching for a signal constantly if you only have 2 bars chances are it's struggling a bit

So I should turn on airplane mode? My battery has always been fine. Unless it's the beta.

The beta will run it down anyway, but I suggest you read about the battery problems in one of the threads in the devforums, there's a fix for it.
