iphone 4 help urgent

hi recently i received a gift of an Iphone 4 from a relative in Switzerland locked on the orange Switzerland network, im in UK. when i received the Iphone i popped my orange UK sim in it as it was already activated, but after using it it kept crashing, i updated it but now on itunes it says "insert valid sim with no pin-lock to activate Iphone".

my question is will apple in UK help solve this problem seen as the Iphone was purchased in Switzerland?

Probably, but the only way you'll really know is to call them and ask. Or take it into an Apple store.
