Hi,

About a month ago my iPhone 4 was accidentally water damaged. It ended up in a plastic bag where a juice carton was spilled..

In any case, I did some fast online search and disassembled the iPhone and used Isopropyl alcohol to clean the EMF shields and connectors inside prior to inserting it in a bag of rice for 3 days. Luckily, after assembly the iPhone started working :)
The only problem that I encounter is that the Home button stopped working normally. It need to press on it really hard to activate it. I tried calibrating it which didn't work. I tried using the 30 pin cable to push on the home button which didn't work as well. The only thing that temporary solves the problem is using 70% Isopropyl alcohol to rub the home button with my finger while pressing on it. However, after about 3-4 days, the home button is slow to respond again and barely functions. I

I realise it is an old phone, but I would like to keep it for few more months. I would really prefer to have a solution for this problem without the use of Assistive touch. Would replacing the home button solve the problem? Are there better solutions without?

Thanks
