I know there have been plenty of threads about this, but lately this issue has started to really bug me. Sometimes (more often than not) my iPhone 4 will have very, very faint horizontal lines across the screen. They're really only noticeable on a grey or blue background (Facebook icon, keyboard background etc.) but they really detract from the picture quality.

I don't think this is a hardware failure for two reasons: They aren't always there, and I don't think I've always had this issue. I've only dropped my phone once, and that was after I started noticing these lines.

You can test for this issue by opening the attached picture. The upper and lower bars will flicker. (The ones that say the picture number, delete etc.)

Anyone else? And is there a fix?

try to update/restore phone. if you tried that, bring it to an Apple Store to get it replaced if you're still under warranty. since you did drop and that started to happen, it could be a hardware issue...

My phone is updated to iOS 5. I'm going to try restoring tomorrow to see if that changes anything.

As for the drop, I said that I dropped it AFTER I started noticing this issue. My dropping the phone didn't cause any damage beyond a small scuff on the corner. :p

Did the restore do anything?

I just upgraded from an original iPhone 4 (1.5 years old) to an iPhone 4s and I noticed slight interlacing that didnt exist on my White iPhone 4. I searched google and found this thread. I can really see the problem with the test image.

I asked a few co-workers load the test image on their black iPhone 4s but none of them have the interlacing... I was wondering if its only white phones with the problem. I am thinking of getting a replacement.
