Hey guys,

Maybe this especific question had being asked before, maybe not.

So basically, I read many reviews describing how fragile the iphone 4 is despite how apple said it glass was 30x times more durable than plastic which proved to be wrong...

I am very interested on buying an iphone rather than blackberry torch. If I buy an iphone 4, i would TOTALLY use it with a case, but not that bulky..just a slim type.

Therefore, would the iphone glass body resist to falls with a case from incipio or griffin(I don't know which one especifically since in my country its harder to find the latest ones...I just don't want any bulky ones)?

Thx in advance.

I would say to just purchase an Apple bumper. You get to show off the sexy design of the phone, and you still get protection. If you somehow manage to crack the back of the phone, it only costs $30 to replace it. (Or you could even purchase different colour back plates on eBay for just a few bucks. They are also super easy to change.) The front costs a lot more to replace, but it does take impact a lot better than the back does.

If you're really worried about dropping your phone, go all out and purchase something that gives you a great amount of drop protection.

I just love the sleek design of the iPhone 4 and I have a hard time throwing a plastic case on that beautiful glass design.

Ah, that's where the Belkin is a winner, it's very slimline and being clear you get to appreciate the 4 in all its glory, while lessening the risk of damage.

I have your basic 20 dollar (or less) silicon case on mine. It's dropped quite a few times and not a scratch. I've had it since first day it was out. In fact, one time it dropped on its face in a parking lot and even slid a few inches (right onto the asphalt) where the case didn't protect it. Still not a scratch (Granted, I think the small lip the case had to grab around the front kept it raised enough the glass didn't actually touch the pavement, that or the 30x as strong glass they use on the front really is that good). So in my experience, even a cheap case protects the phone (though I'd honestly trust my silicon one over some of the more expensive plastic hard shells that may be hard but have no cushioning affect at all and are just thin plastic shells). It's also been dropped on its corner (which is the worst) and got protected). Granted, I haven't dropped it from too high (usually what happens is I forget to zip my purse, the strap gets all tangled up and causes the purse to turn upside down and my phone falls out. I've learned to always keep my purse zipped ;) ).

My roommate doesn't tend to use a case (he does now, heh). But he at one point dropped his and scrapped it along the floor even. The phone had plenty of scratches along the back where it got scraped but even the back didn't shatter (BTW, the glass that is 30X stronger is only used on the front of the iphone, the back is normal glass but I hear it's very cheap to replace).

After having his replaced due to a flaky power button (I'm actually surprised Apple replaced it as I would have expected them to point out the obvious damage and claim it was obviously abused) I've noticed he caved and put a case on it (He hates the case cause it keeps the phone from slipping in and out of his pocket easily cause the case material grabs onto the pocket lining).

The only iPhone cases that are worthless are the ones made of very thin plastic that I see far too often. You need to use something of substance in order to expect a case to protect your iPhone. Also keep in mind that even with a case your screen may be prone to damage if it falls on that side.

There are tons of good cases out there, and I highly recommend you do purchase a case. I dropped my iPhone 4 after week one sans case and the top volume now requires extra effort to work. Protect your phone.
