last night at around 11:54pm my iphone battery level was at 73%,and so i decided to turn on my airplane mode to prevent the battery from decreasing so much. but when i woke up this morning at around 7:10am,the battery was at 18%!! WHY?? is this a usual problem? someone help! i need answers

iPhone 4 huge battery drain overnight

like anti-matter.How is it working since? I had one case about 6 months ago where my iPhone 4 went from 90+% down to where it shut down and wouldn't restart by the next morning. I recharged it and it has been working normally (only dropping a few % overnight) ever since. I don't have a clue what the cause was.
