How do I restore iphone 4 ios 5.0.1 that has been jailbroken with the recent hack?

Is it ok for me to just restore default ios 5.0.1 firmware via itunes?

I'm just making sure so I don't brick my phone..

Thank you.

Yes, assuming you are not attempting to preserve any older version of modem firmware you can restore via iTunes.

Hey confused

Hi I jus purchased an iPhone 4 jailbroken on 5.0.1 and was wondering the same thing about restoring any help??

The SHSH blobs are cryptographic signatures that should prevent us from downgrading to or restoring a version of iOS other than the latest. By saving them you can bypass this prevention, and later downgrade to 5.0.1 if you wish to jailbreak. The SHSH blobs are specific to each phone, and each version of iOS, so you have to save them yourself. It is very easy, just download TinyUmbrella and save them. Even better, save them and submit them to the Cydia server with redsn0w, then you can always downgrade.

So what if I'm not a jail breaker or have any plans of jail breaking should I worry about it still??

yes if you have no plans to jailbreak again then you don't have to worry about shsh blobs. They are their for jailbreaks incase they screw up their jailbreak that they have a way to restore their iPhone so that they can rejailbreak it
