iPhone 4 - iOS4.0 - Apple Bluetooth Headset Issue

I recently upgraded to iPhone 4 with iOS4.0 installed. I finally found my charger cable for my apple bluetooth headset, but can't seem to get it to pair. I've had it plugged in for about an hour now. if i put it in my eat i can hear the beeps letting me know its on, turns off, turns on etc. But when i turn on my phone's bluetooth it just "searches" and is never finds it.

I know apple discounted this hardware, but I should still expect this to work, right?
