I have a weird issue and I hope someone can point me in the right direction to resolve it. So I got my iPhone 4 and when I plug in the usb connector to my desktop the iPhone does not see that it's plugged in. When I tried with the same cable and same usb port with my iPhone 3G, no problem. iTunes does not recognize the iPhone 4 either, I'm guessing since the phone itself does not see that its connected.

Here's the weird part, I connected the iPhone 4 using the same cable to my laptop and it works??? Of course all of my back-up was on my desktop and like an idiot I already erased all the data on my 3G.

How can I fix this? Both the desktop and the laptop are HP running Windows 7. I've been through apple's forums and tried updating the USB setting in device manager to no luck. I even tried reinstalling iTunes for the hell of it. Tried power-cycling the desktop and the phone, but nada..

please help...
