I just got an iphone 4 that has never been jailbroken or unlocked. It is version 5.1 and firmware 4.12.01. I have only jb and unlocked the 3gs. What is the latest options to do this with the iphone 4? And is there an untethered jb?

No unlock whatsoever.

There's no software unlock for this baseband. You have to use Gevey Sim if you want pseudo-unlocking ability.
