iPhone 4 KV Connection + Audio-Technica ATR3350 problems

I can't seem to get it to record audio from the mic, it still records from the standard speaker. I've tried swapping the battery, trying with mute on and off and various volume sound settings. My phone is jailbroken but I wouldn't think that it would make a difference. Any suggestions to solve this problem?
