Never been to an iPhone launch before, so based on previous iPhone releases and what everyone is thinking this year will be like, what kind of wait times is everyone preparing themselves for? How fast do the lines typically move? ex: 2 people every 10 minutes. I know wait times will vary based where you live and what store you go to, so I guess my real question is how fast are the Apple Store employees at getting people in and out with an activated iPhone?

Depends on where you are in line, depends on how good/experienced the Apple specialist is, it depends on whether or not people are bogging the line down because they thought they were eligible for a full upgrade but find out they have to pay more, thus increasing their stay by another 10 minutes while the specialist is on the phone with AT&T....there's a lot of variables here.

You've also got to consider if people are buying the phone outright or on contract as it will take longer to sort the contracts out.

When I pre-ordered, I was under the impression that I'd have to be home to sign for the delivery (didn't know about "pre-signing") so I pre-ordered for in-store pickup...

I've also never been to an Apple launch event and am kind of excited... guess my question is this; If the store opens at 7... do I need to be in line earlier then 6am?

also if you reserved it or not. reserves should go fairly quick. as far as what i've learned from talking to apple employees. the said all reserves have been logged and all you're doing is going to the store to activate/pay for the phone. hoping that goes fairly quick.
