I think this MicroSim is going to put me in a difficult situation... my mum is letting me have her upgrade on her contract as she doesn't want a new phone. So she will upgrade to the iPhone 4 and give it to me and keep her old phone.

However, now that these MicroSims are being used, does that mean the MicroSim that comes with the iPhone 4 will have her contract on it and not her old/current one?

How do I get around this? Thank you :)

I'm doing the same, after the phone arrives acivate the phone with your mom's info, go to ATT and ask for a regular sim card for your mom and let them know she decided to keep her old phone and wants to give you the 4 as a gift. Also ask for a micro sim for your new phone or cut it to fit the iphone 4

Thanks for the reply.

So if you cut a normal sim card then it works in the iPhone 4? I was planning to buy one of those sim-only contracts so if I do that and then cut it into the size of a MicroSim, it will work?
:)

Some people have reported success, but I would not try it myself. Much easier to speak to the carrier themselves.

Is what I'm doing allowed? (mum upgrading and giving me the phone)

If I ring up and explain the situation, will they say anything against it?

as long as your mom is willing to sign the 2 year contract and py the monthly fees, ATT can't decide who keeps the phone.
