Iphone 4 Nightmare

Hi

Ive just bought a Second hand iphone 4 was told it hasnt been used for a couple of years and is stuck in recovery mode

Been trying to sort it out all last night

The problem is that it wont charge it only starts when plugged in then it enters recovery mode ive tried restoring it but it wont restore

If i unplug it it just goes dead

Any suggestions

Sounds like it needs a bew battery at the very least, but if it won't restore then why bother.
When you say that it won't restore, how are you going about it?

A DFU complete restore? Does iTunes recognise that the phone needs restoring? What happens?

I have no experience with a conpletelt dead battery. It's entirely possible that you need a working battery to do a full restore.

I would leave your girl friend's phone alone.

Anyway you can get it to a Apple store? They will diagnose for free and you will know before make a choice if it is worth it.

This I am unsure of. I wouldn't be surprised if it did (or didn't). They overhaul the boards every year, so it could go either way. I am sure some online searching would net you something.

That means you're trying to install a version of iOS that doesn't have iPhone 4 support. You will need to put 7.1.2 on there.

Well assuming that you're doing everything correctly, it sounds kinda knackered. It might be worth trying a new battery, they can be had very cheaply online. I'm not sure that's necessarily the problem but you could rule it out.

Maybe off topic, but you said your girlfriend had a 4S with a battery you could swipe. Why don't you just use the 4S?

Its coming back with error 21 now im going to try with a new battery see if that solves it
