I know there have been similar issues already posted about sound, but I haven't found (maybe I'm not looking hard enough) the answer to my particular problem.

The sound will suddenly cut out on my iPhone 4 with the iOS 6.0.1. Not after any particular app has run or anything, it seems random. Approximately every 2-3 weeks, on three different occasions now, the sound has just stopped. I will clarify that I can still send and receive calls - no problems hearing the person I'm speaking to on the phone -- but all notifications (like the ring tone, text message alert, email alert) are all vibrate only. This means I can't listen to any music, can't watch any videos, can't listen to voicemail... I CAN play games but no sound comes with it. I have had to wipe my phone a total of 3 times in the past 2 months...it's really annoying. When I DO wipe, the sound works...until suddenly it doesn't again.

When I brought it into Futureshop (where I bought the device 2 years ago), they told me they couldn't do anything because it was a software problem not a hardware problem. They suggested that I wipe the phone everytime it does this, and to download the apps one at a time to see if I found the one causing issues. This would literally take over a year to do since the sound doesn't cut right away, only after a 2-3 week period. I understand the difference between hardware and software issues, but what is the point of having a smartphone with no apps? There has to be an easier way to figure out what the problem app is. I'm not spending a year downloading each individual app and seeing if after 2-3weeks it decides to cut the sound.

Any suggestions? Please? I'm getting really frustrated...
