Does the screen, back plate, or frame get scratched the most? Or another way to read this is: what part of the phone is most easily scratched?

Soon to be a first-time iPhone owner. I'm not sure if I should protect the whole phone, or just a part it, because I think it's beautiful without a case.

Something I've noticed today on my one year old, never-in-a-case iPhone 4. The lens for the back camera is scratched so badly it takes bad photos.

The back of the iPhone isn't badly scratched, just the lens cover.
 
Front screen from my earring... Other than that the phone is perfect. You can only see the scratches when the light hits the screen a certain way though.
