iPhone 4 Pre-Order Delivery Date

I ordered my new iPhone 4 an hour after the preordering started, and it went without a problem. Now, I see that the delivery date for the new iPhone has been pushed back to the 14th of July on the iPhone preorder page. Since I already ordered my phone and AT&T says that my order is in progress, will I still get my stuff by June 24? Thank you.

That's what I don't get - I was lucky enough to get my order completed by 5a on preorder day and my order still says backordered on ATT website. The charge went through my cc immediately, confirmation email came in at 5:02a, and my order is processing in Premier site and showing the order as item backordered on regular ATT site. I've read all threads and there's a mixed bag of people with the same situation. So backordered means I should assume I won't get my order on the 24th because preorders are being processed randomly? Weird.
 
No matter how bad it got and no matter how many things I read saying that AT&T's site was temporarily working I refused to order from anywhere except Apple.com

I knew AT&T would screw up the pre-orders and I knew Best Buy was basically just taking deposits without guaranteeing availability on launch day... I knew Apple would come through.

7:30pm EST Tuesday I FINALLY got through and am confirmed June 24th!
 
Ordered through AT&T, "ships on or after June 24th"

Trying to find out if anybody has any written indication from AT&T that they will have DELIVERY on June 24th? I got my order in early and the confirmation email says "ships on or after June 24th". Wondering if anybody has anything more encouraging in writing from AT&T?

The responses I have been reading about the back-ordered status are that most likely it's listed as back-ordered because the phone isn't actually shipping right now. I wouldn't worry too much at this point, especially if you got your order in so early on the first day.
 
I was able to get my order in by 5pm and on my confirmation it says by June 24th. I tried for my Fiance 5 mins later and was not able to get it to go through. I went home and tried again, about 30 mins later and it went through but it said delivery mid July or so. I did not go through with it for her. We ran to Best Buy right down the street and ordered one to be in the store by the 24th or 25th. I dont remember. The funny thing is that Best Buy was actually taking orders for the White IPhone. The store representative told me he sold 15 of them then Apple called him to tell him to stop pre selling the white one. But he did say that the 15 that he sold were going to be white. I would hate to be the people that bought the white one from him. Only to recieve a phone call from Best Buy later saying, sorry but you have to switch your order to the black.

Lastly, I am still hoping that I get my pre order on June 24th like it says. Please Please Please
 
I ordered my iPhone 4 at 3:30 pm EST on June 15th at an AT&T store. I phoned up AT&T on June 16th because I had yet to receive a conformation email, they guaranteed me that my iPhone would be available for pick up on June 24th. I then chechked my Order Status and it says that my iPhone 4 is ordered !

I guess Lucky Me :) !!
 
Yes, you can do what folks like myself are going to do - sit at your commuter desk and watch footage of dummies queued up in the baking heat waiting for their chance to buy a phone. And laugh. And laugh. Then pray your children don't grow up to be as pathetic as those waiting in line for a phone. It's a phone.

If it was just a phone, you wouldn't be here Mr. Sourgrapes! LOL
 
not in writing but I was told by AT&T that they have been trained that anyone who successfully preordered before 4:30PM Eastern time will get the phone on the 24th, after 4:30 will get it on the 25th. I didn't push the hypothetical order times out further as I think they shut down their pre-orders that evening so I assume that anyone who ordered on the 15th at any time will get the phone on the 24th or 25th. Not in writing so take it for what it's worth. It is funny that my confirmation email was sent on the 16th and the order date according to AT&T is the 17th in the order status page.

That would confirm the 1:30 PST cutoff time for the launch day orders.
