Hi

The current 16GB iPhone 4 is going for around £300 on ebay right now.

How much can I expect the price to drop once the iPhone 5 has been released?

What has the price drop been like with new generations being released in the past?

Cheers

Their is the well known risks of buying from auction sites.

I feel the ip4 will hold it's price even when the ip5 is released.

Your title is misleading

How so??

Op- it really depends on apple. If they release an ip4 with 8gb of memory to become the lesser model like the 3GS is now then the 16/32gb models will hold value. However if apple ups the ip5 to 32/64gb and decides to keep the ip4 as a 16gb lesser model the value will drop but not massively.

The rumours I've read is that possibly the ip5 won't have a 16gb version !

I've not read anything regarding releasing an 8gb ip4 but anythings possible I suppose. My gut says no !

To purchase an ip4 16gb from 02 is currently £504 so the cost you have seen is reasonable !

Seriously, you couldn't simply look up this information?

The prices be tiered similar to this:

White Iphone 4 32gb

Black Iphone 32gb/White iPhone 16gb

Black Iphone 16gb

Apple is (reportedly) still going to be selling the 4 when the next iPhone comes out, which will help it increase its worth. My guess is that the White 32gb will go for around $450, the Black 32 and white 16 around $380-400ish, and the black 16 for around $350. Thats a dip in price of about $100-$50 of what they are selling now. This is just a complete guess though and is determinate on the demand for the next iPhone, the more people want the "5" the more people that will be selling the 4, the less there will be a demand for the 4, the less it will sell for.

Honestly though, I have a white 16gb, and my girlfriend has a black 32gb, and if can I get $350 for each one when the next iPhone comes out, I'll be happy because we'll get the next gen for free (assuming theres a model for $299 of course)

Edit: this is going off the current price list for iPhone 4's in Southern California. White 32gb is in the $500's, black 32gb and white 16gb is $450-$500 and black 16gb is $400-$450

Probably get rid of the 32GB and have something like:
- iPhone 4 16GB - £400
- iPhone 5 16GB/32GB (lower model) - £500
- iPhone 5 32GB/64GB (higher model) - £600

Searching price check information on Google usually yields results that are very old and inaccurate. ..

Like any guesses posted here will be any more accurate?

The value of any article is made up of two things.

1 - What the seller will agree to
and

2 - What the buyer is wiling to pay.

Anything else is worthless.

Okay cheers everyone. Used 16GB iPhone 4's are going for around £300 now, so when the new models released can I except to prices to drop to around £250/ £200? Seems a bit low to be honest.

A few weeks before the iPhone 4 was announced I sold my iPhone 3G not 3GS for £350.

I'd expect the iPhone 4 to be going around the same price.

The price of the iPhone 4 will greatly depend on the upgrades of the iPhone 5. If the differences are minimal the price won't go down much, but if the differences are great you can expect a decent drop in price.
