I searched the internet for this after talking to Apple Care.

they will replace my Iphone 4 but I wanted to try to fix this first.

What happens is during a call my cheek is moving and the phone lights up and buttons get pushed and then the call is hung up on.

Several critical calls have been messed up by this.

the fix?

Reset network settings.

It is under general in settings

has it worked? Yes so far. I will continue to test this week and report back here.

So far today its working since the fix, had 3 calls before the fix the phone hung up each time with lighting up, since resetting the network none of that for 3 more calls.

I don't think resetting network settings is going to do anything. Sounds more like hardware.

Yes some that have the problem like me have had the phone replaced.

So far I have not seen my phone light up as before during a call. I need a few days to test now.

reporting back, must say this fix has me a little baffled?

Its working it seems, I have not had the issue since I did this.

I do not what network settings have to do with proximity but its so much better.:D

The only fix for me is "callLock" from cydia.
But mine is a launch day iphone 4. I heard on newer batches they fixed the Prox sensor issue.
Hope its true.
Call lock? I need to look at that too.

Mine was made in Jan 2011 I bought it in late Feb 2011

Yep, its a little workaround hack from Cydia.
It locks the screen when you're on a call and you can only unlock it by hitting Home and then slide to unlock. This way you can never hit buttons with your face even if the screen lights up again.

im having this issue as well for mine.

But normally happens once i have used loud speaker during the phone call and then when I switch it back to normal speaker and put it to my ear, it cuts in and out mutes etc. Rather annoying have swapped phone with apple care, and even had a brand new one sent out in mail.

So am now waiting to hear back from Apple on what the next step is going to be.
