After getting my iPhone replaced 3 hours before, I noticed that my camera makes noise whenever it focuses.

The first time happened once I opened the camera app. The following times took less than a minute to reproduce, but I was able to reproduce it 100% of the time.

Basically, when focusing (NOT digital zoom), I can physically hear a camera mechanism make noise. When it does so, instead of smoothly focusing I can also physically see the image on the screen "jump" around. Furthermore, I can also feel something in the phone grinding/shaking when it happens.

I immediately went back to the store to wait another hour to see a genius, and was "lucky" enough to see the same guy. After being in the back for 20 minutes he told me he wasn't able to reproduce it. He also told me in a mocking tone that there is no motor in the camera that could make a noise.

Not knowing much about cameras myself, I asked him how it is possible for it to focus automatically as it does? He then told me that because the firmware was older (the new one they gave me had 4.0.2 on it) I could update it and then bring it back. Of course, after a fresh restore (not using backup), the camera did it immediately upon use.

I can safely say that my previous phone never did such a thing after hours of recording and FaceTime calls.

Am I crazy, or was I just lied to and dismissed by the genius? How will I get a replacement when I go back, especially if I end up seeing the same guy?
