I got a brand new iPhone 4 yesterday (I don't need Siri, and 8GB is enough for me since I use iTunes Match) and I've been having an issue with reception. It's similar to what people were talking about when the 4 first came out, the antennagate deal. When I hold my phone, my reception drops to 1 bar, and I don't get any dropped calls, but the person on the other end has a hard time hearing me. As soon as I hang up and put my phone down, the signal goes back up.

I thought they revised the design to prevent this kind of thing, right? Is this normal, or should I call Applecare?

You should be using a Bumper or case. Don't hold it in your bare hand. The 4s doesn't have this issue.
